This course is a project-based course, and as such does not include tests, homework, or quizzes. Many grades will be based on large projects and experiments, participation in class, helping to edit group or class wikis, and maintaining and commenting upon science blogs. The Advanced Problems in Science course does not have semester exams and uses the time for other project work. A lot of writing will be done during the course and getting your point across is important. Good grammar and spelling help in making yourself understood, but as long as your blogs and wikis make sense to the average reader, the occasional misspelled word/bizarre sentence will not impact your grade. Although some content may require time outside of class, the majority of the activities and assignments will be completed during class.
The grade breakdown will be as follows:
Projects/Experiments 50%
Blogging/Wikis/etc. 20%
Participation 20%
Project Progress 10%
