A bit more about me...

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri where I always dreamed of being a teacher. But I did not start living that dream until much later. First, I worked in retail and then I sold real estate. I went back to school in St. Louis after I was married to Gerry and had a 5 year old son, Thomas. When my husband was transferred to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I continued working towards my teaching degree at Duquesne University. Working full time, being a wife and a mother to an active child and going to school kept me busy. I finally graduated with honors and a 4.0 in 1995. My first teaching job was at Lincoln Elementary where I taught 5th grade Math, Science and Social Studies for 3 years. My husband was transferred again and that’s how I came to Newton. This is my 12th year of teaching Reading, Language Arts and Social Studies to the wonderful students here. Right now, I am working on a Master’s Degree in Literacy at University of Dayton. I am truly living my dream!
