Last week, the physics class and the advanced problems in science class competed in the toothpick bridge competition. Their task was to build a bridge out of flat toothpicks and school glue which was able to span a 30 centimeter canyon. Then a bucket was hung from the bridge and weights were added to the bucket. The bridges were judged on the ratio of the mass it held versus the weight of the bridge itself.

The bridge which was third place overall was built by advanced problems in science students Treg Jackson, Cory Rowe and Nash Lavy. It held 312 times its own weight. The second place bridge overall held 408 times its own weight and was built by physics students Kacie Tackett, Macy Flanary, and Jalynn Mead. And the winner out of both classes held the maximum weight of 15kg which was 549 times its own weight. This bridge was built by physics students Athan Matthews, Paiton Miller, and Tristen Benedict. Fabulous work students!
