Striving for Excellence, Together We Learn by Doing
January 21, 2010
Dear Newton School Community Members,
As of this writing, Newton has 73 days left in this school year. We are well beyond the halfway point. The 1923 portion of our building has a little more than 100 days left to stand. The next few weeks and months will no doubt fly by us as quickly as the rest of this school year has!
As a school, we will count down the remaining days with the children. As we do so, we will also give students some facts about the school’s history and the significant events that have helped create pride in our school. Although there may be a certain sadness about our building being razed, there is much more to a school than the brick and mortar!
I believe that schools, like churches, are more about the people who attend them rather than the building themselves. During these last few months as we transition to our new building, I would like to focus on people and relationships rather than our old building. Newton is a special school and a special place in the hearts of many because of people rather than the building itself!
I am extremely pleased with the cooperation and support everyone (students, parents, teachers, staff, our construction crews, and the community) has demonstrated during this unusual school year! It will undoubtedly be a special memory for many of us when this long process has finally concluded.
Upcoming events:
Check back often for updates, changes, and facts about our building as we count down this school year!
Sincerely,
Pat McBride
Superintendent
